Why use a bedding conditioner?
Clean, dry bedding in areas such as cow cubicles, farrowing houses,
stables and calf or lambing pens is a critical factor in the control
of harmful bacteria and other micro-organisms. Traditional bedding
materials such as straw, sawdust or waste paper improve comfort
levels for animals, but research has shown they can create the
perfect warm and moist conditions for harmful bugs to thrive. This
can lead to health problems including environmental mastitis, hoof
problems and incubation of diseases which can severely affect young
and vulnerable animals.
Why is Dri-Li so effective as a bedding conditioner?
The exceptionally large surface area of the Dri-Li
Plus particles
means that the product absorbs far more moisture than alternative
products (five times that of lime).
Thanks to its highly effective and unique disinfectant, laboratory
trials with Dri-Li Plus have demonstrated its excellent ability
to kill harmful mastitis-causing organisms such as E.coli.
Dri-Li Plus is also a natural buffering material and helps keep
the bedding pH neutral. As a result, Dri-Li
Plus is much gentler
on udder tissue and skin – unlike other commonly used bedding
material such as lime, which is very much an irritant.
Usage recommendations
For best results Dri-Li Plus should
be added onto the top of bedding at the rate of 50g per m2 for
the first three days and then once or twice a week thereafter.
Dri-Li Plus can also be applied
to the non-absorbent surfaces of rubber mats.
