AciXol®
What is AciXol®?
AciXol®is a blend of organic and inorganic acids which are microencapsulated by the unique patented MICROPEARLS® process to ensure slow release, intended for use in the diets of pigs and poultry. In addition to the acids, AciXol® also contains RepaXol, a blend of essential oils included for their digestive enhancing effects.
Why use AciXol®?
The urgent need to replace antibiotic growth promoters in pig and poultry production has drawn much attention to the potential of acids and essential oils to naturally modulate the gut microflora when included in the diet. Because AciXol® is protected it is delivered directly to the intestine where it is able to exert its positive effects on digestion and gut health. AciXol® also has the added benefit of essential oils from RepaXol including oregano and capsicum which have proven benefits to digestion together with activity against many pathogenic bacteria.
Modern production systems see pigs and poultry subjected to a number of pressures which can compromise health and performance. Early weaning of piglets when their digestive system is unable to cope with such an abrupt change of diet, environmental changes, stocking densities and inherent disease all contribute towards suboptimal performance and ill health. The use of a dietary acid allows the optimal pH in the stomach and small intestine to be maintained at levels unfavourable to the growth of pathogenic bacteria and promotes proliferation of lactic acid bacteria, allowing better gut health and therefore nutrient digestion and absorption.
Why is AciXol® different from other organic acids?
Unlike products made of free acids, AciXol® does not affect the cells of the stomach wall and works without lowering the normal production of hydrochloric acid. AciXol® works slowly and progressively in the stomach and predominantly in the intestine under the action of lipase and biliary salts. The fatty acid coating of AciXol® allows a slow and controlled release of the acids. AciXol® also has much lower inclusion rates than non-protected acids which are commonly included at rates up to 20kg/t and is totally safe and non-corrosive to handle in the mill.
Usage guidelines and considerations
When using dietary acidifiers the buffering capacity of the feed must be considered.
AciXol®can be mixed without risk of interaction with other sensitive feed ingredients such as certain vitamins and minerals.
Piglets 0-10 kg liveweight - 1-2 kg/tonne feed
Grower/finisher pigs and sows - 0.5-2 kg/tonne feed
Broilers and Turkeys - 0.5-1kg/tonne feed
