NutriCAB®
What is NutriCAB®?
NutriCAB®is a microencapsulated source of calcium chloride which can be used to manipulate the cation-anion balance (DCAB) of feeds.
Why use NutriCAB®?
NutriCAB is a highly effective way of reducing the DCAB value of a diet. This becomes important in transition cows where a high DCAB diet significantly increases the risk of milk fever at the onset of lactation. Reducing the DCAB value of the diet increases calcium availability due to enhancement of the hormone responsible for maintaining correct blood calcium levels. NutriCAB can also be fed to sows and is helpful in reducing the incidence of MMA syndrome after farrowing.
Why is NutriCAB® different?
Calcium chloride is unpalatable and hygroscopic in its granular form. The Pan Coating encapsulation technique used to protect NutriCAB means it is much more palatable and is released not in the rumen, but in the small intestine where it is more efficiently absorbed by the animal.
Usage guidelines and considerations
When using NutriCAB the DCAB of the entire diet must be considered.
Dairy cattle prior to calving – 125-150g per head per day
Sows prior to farrowing – 25g per head per day
