World's first renewable TPU available from Azelis Plastics UK
18 February 2008
Merquinsa, the world's largest independent producer of specialty thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs), has launched a range of renewable TPUs, which are now available from Azelis Plastics UK. The Pearlthane® and Pearlbond® ECO ranges of TPUs are designed to meet the needs for environmentally friendly materials in the elastomer and adhesive markets.
Pearlthane® and Pearlbond® ECO are made from 40% to 95% (by weight) renewable sources and offer equivalent or, in some cases, improved performance versus traditional TPUs. These new 'patent pending' product lines based on a breakthrough proprietary technology are the first TPU ranges made from renewable natural sources, instead of petroleum.
Maxine Duckett, Business Development Manager Azelis Plastics UK said: "Global climate change is increasingly on the business agenda and we are pleased to be able to offer these products and play some small part in helping to address this important issue. Merquinsa has developed, and continues to invest in, the most effective TPU technologies which will enable customers to monitor and limit the environmental impact of their products."
Merquinsa's ECO ranges can be used to enhance the performance of a diverse portfolio of end-use products that range from consumer electronics to footwear, adhesives, sport & leisure, industrial and automotive applications.
